Clipper worked great, seemed to get hot rather quickly. Cordless trimmer lasted thru one paw on clean dog and won't cut.

1st time is a learning experience

so far, so good. this is my first foray into clipping my dog. he's a bernese mountain dog w/very thick coat; it's spring and he's starting to dump the winter coat; so he's as thick as can be. the oster, mostly on the lower speed, cut through him w/slow, thorough passes. the key is learning the angle for holding the clipper and cutting to the desired depth. combs keep you from making big mistakes. combs also eliminate the need to cool the blade frequently. otherwise the uninitiated can cut too deeply w/o much trouble. I expect to continue learning for a few more times. the clipper was up to the challenge of dog's coat and my incompetence and the first outcome was pretty good.
